Skinning looks at skin as a primary metaphor through the story of a speculative mink farmer born into a mink fur farming family. Following the sudden collapse of the Dutch mink fur industry in 2020, we explore how the farmer’s skin—an archive of trauma—can become a cartography of the perpetrator, capable of transformation. Juxtaposing abandoned mink farms as wounds on the Earth’s skin with the farmer offering his own skin for healing, we ask: how can two traumatized skins, human and non-human, find a shared path toward change?
